Believing conspiracies is one thing, but using them against family is a recipe for drama, which is what one California man experienced with his brother. Reddit user Mayan_monkey shared his story on r/mildlyinfuriating, sharing how he was gay and had a straight twin brother. This sibling, “who used to go out to gay bars because he had so much fun,” has now become a “conspiracy theorist and thinks everything has to do with the devil and brainwashing,” Mayan_monkey explained.
In a screenshot between the two brothers, Mayan_monkey’s sibling claims to believe “Pride” is connected to 666, the satanic number of the antichrist. Based on OP’s wording, he seemed more heartbroken about his brother’s turning against the LGBTQ community than upset. “We lost another one,” Mayan_monkey sadly wrote, with hundreds of Redditors tuning in to share their thoughts about his situation.
Reddit Mocks the Gay California Man’s Brother While Also Expressing Their Condolences
“Show him the Monster energy satanic symbolism video. It’ll blow his mind,” suggested a commenter, referring to the viral 2014 YouTube video claiming Monster Energy is connected to the devil. “And isn’t a rainbow typically described as having 7 colors?” another Redditor pointed out.
A third user added how the rainbow was seen as a sign of promise by God in the Bible and claimed it’s questionable why the brother would connect it with the devil based on LGBTQ pride. While plenty of others chimed in with their criticisms of OP’s sibling’s views, a few expressed sadness over political conspiracies tainting his relationship with a family member.
“That suck. [That’s] So much of a reach, I would assume they were joking, but sadly I do know some people that actually think that way,” sighed a commenter, to which Mayan_monkey responded, “He is not joking. He thinks the moon landing was fake, all elections are rigged, you name it.”
“This is so disheartening,” remarked a second. “This is also pretty sad, I’m sorry OP that you lost your brother to such hateful thinking,” said another. Needless to say, people are free to have their own beliefs. However, this California man feels nothing but tragic betrayal from his brother and his opinions.
