A Kentucky woman had a craving for a McDonald’s apple pie and went to order one. But when she paid and got to the window, they told her they didn’t have apple pies in stock that day. Worse yet, they refused to refund her the money. But what happened after that left her feeling appalled and confused.
Cook (@cookandrex) had a disappointing and confusing experience when they ordered an apple pie from McDonald’s. She ordered an apple pie, paid for it, and went to the pickup window. Instead, they greeted her and told her they didn’t have an apple pie in stock. So, then she asked for her money back. The worker told her they couldn’t refund her money, so she paid for a pie she didn’t receive!
Cook records her conversation with the worker, who tells her they can’t physically do the refund. Why? Because his boss told him “no refunds” were to be given at their location. Cook was shocked, because she paid for a product and didn’t receive it. She tells the worker, “You can give me the product” or “refund my money.”
At this point, the employee walks away and a second worker comes to the window. She asks Cook if she needs a refund, who responds with, “Sure do!” But then the first worker tells the second worker that she isn’t allowed to give a refund. Both of the workers abandon Cook at the window.
What Cook didn’t know is that they were calling the police on her! She wasn’t sure why they would do this. When police arrived, Cook claims she spoke with an officer who took her information. The officer told her that they couldn’t do anything because this was a “civil matter.” As Cook says, “All this… over an apple pie.”
The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters, with many astounded by how Cook was treated over the matter. Many were shocked that the workers outright refused to refund her money even though they didn’t have the product. One commenter stated, “I would have gotten that whole order refunded. Stop eating at these places. It’s about time McDonald’s goes under.” Another simply mentioned, “That’s illegal.”
One commenter, however, suggested that they think Cook didn’t tell the full story. They stated, “There’s more to this story than we are being told.” Cook replied, “The reason they gave for not refunding was that they are losing too much money to refunds. I paid cash and did not get it back. According to police, it is a civil matter.” Commenters continue to share their thoughts on this situation and how employees handled things.
