A rather shocking video taken at a Massachusetts graduation ceremony has been making the rounds on social media. It involves Moises Rorigues, the first black mayor to be elected in Brockton, MA, and a mother who accused him of doing something to her daughter.

Commenters went to the video’s replies to share their opinions on the situation, with many wondering exactly what happened to begin with. Interestingly enough, it is alleged that Rodrigues is not allowed within 100 feet of the particular student.

The video above was posted to X and features Moises Rodrigues giving a speech at Brockton High School’s graduation in Massachusetts. Almost immediately, an unidentified mother walks in front of the students he is speaking with and begins yelling allegations at him.

You can clearly hear the woman say, “You have to [expletive] get out of here.. You know what you did to my daughter,” while she walks up to the podium. Before she can get very close, security at the event begins to move her away as she continues to yell accusations.

When the camera pans over to the students, you can see the shock on their faces. It appears that no one was really expecting the situation to happen. According to the same post, Rodrigues is under scrutiny for something that occurred during the Huntington Day Parade.

In a statement, Rodrigues said, “At the Huntington Day Parade, someone brought to my attention that I interacted with a student that made the student uncomfortable. I have absolutely, positively, no clue as to who this family is, who the student is, because that was not the intention behind, again, remember, we were at a parade, and we were with hundreds of people.”

Reactions to Moises Rodrigues Being Accused By a Mother

Commenters found the entire situation to be off, especially considering that Rodrigues is allegedly not allowed within 100 feet of the specific student. One commenter even wrote, “How can he not know who it is but yet has to stay 100 feet away?“

Others were appalled that the mayor was even present at the ceremony at all, with someone writing, “So The Mayor shouldn’t have been there as he clearly committed a crime against a minor, and most likely a sexual one.“

According to another commenter, wrote that Rodrigues will be able to present information concerning the Massachusetts court case on June 22. This person wrote, “Official Investigation: The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Massachusetts State Police are investigating a complaint made by the student and her parents to the Brockton Schools. A court hearing is set for June 22 to determine if the order will be extended.”

As the video continues to go viral, more people leave their frustrations in the comments below.
