A mother in Dallas, Texas, shared a very emotional montage with her two young children. Lovely at first, the clip turned heartbreaking when she revealed a very sad truth: her daughter would have turned five this year.

The woman in question is Naima Hill. She uses her social media accounts to talk about grief, loss, and trauma, as she unfortunately lost her daughter, Avy, back in 2023. She was 22-months-old at the time. The clip attached above became her biggest video to date, garnering 1.4 million views, 231,000 likes, and more than 4,700 comments.

The Texas woman started her clip by saying that she was the mother who would set up a camera to record herself with her children. She pointed toward a place in the park where she once played with some dry leaves with her kids, including Avy. Naima then shared a clip of the three of them doing exactly that.

By recording herself with her children, she believed she would once get to reminisce with them once they got older. She said, “I could be like, these are the kind of things that we did. I would pick you up from school, and we would go to the playground, and we would play, and I would try to spend quality time with you.”

Naima’s video, tragically, then showed a photo of a very serious car crash.

Fatal Car Crash

As reported by the Times Record News, the incident occurred back on May 17, 2023. While on U.S. Highway 287, former Knox County sheriff Michael Lloyd Carlson slammed into the back of Naima’s SUV while speeding. This, as a result, led the vehicle to strike the back of a semi truck.

Avy Hill tragically passed away a day later at 22 months old. Naima and her son survived the crash. In April 2025, Carlson was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

With her daughter gone, the Texas woman now sees these videos not as a source of reminiscence, but rather emotional support when, at 3 a.m., she is unable to sleep due to the grief.

“She would be 5 this year. She’d be 5 on June 24th. This can’t be real, right?” the mother said.

Reactions

The video sparked multiple responses.

Most users were unaware of Naima’s story, so they were heartbroken to hear about Avy’s passing. One viewer commented, “And suddenly my problems seem so small. I’m so so sorry.” Another one commented, “Oh, mama… All she knew was love.”

One viewer asked Naima, “How do you recover? I’m so sorry.” She answered, “I can confirm… You do not.” Another one added, “She misses you just as much as you miss her.” Again, Naima responded, “If she does exist somewhere, she misses me more than I miss her, which is soul-crushing too.”

Since Avy’s passing, Naima created Avy’s Sunshine Tribe, a non-profit dedicated to building outdoor playgrounds and creating communities of support that honor their lost loved ones.
