It seems as if the long-awaited Rambo 5 may soon be coming to fruition if reports are to be believed.
Omega Underground has reported that Rambo 5 is set to start production on September 1st and will be filming in Spain and along the Spanish Canary Islands. If this is true it means that the film will be sharing the location with an entry in another 80s action franchise, The Terminator. That film, which is simply being titled The Terminator, will be helmed by Deadpool director Tim Miller. Omega Underground specifically reports that the Spanish Canary Islands are “being eyed” as the shooting location, so it is entirely possible that that may change in the next couple months.
Sylvester Stallone himself has commented in a recent Q&A that, “We’re trying to come to terms on locations and things like that. Hopefully, it will work out, if not then there’s, you know, other things down the road.”
It is likely Stallone is referring to the other projects he has brewing such as Creed II which is out in theaters in November, and his pride-and-joy, The Expendables series, which has a fourth entry currently slated for production in April of 2019. These two films, along with Rambo 5, will likely keep the actor busy for quite some time.
Stallone is once again tapped to return as the titular hero and will be helping to develop the script as well. The plot will follow Rambo as he is called back to action after having been working on his ranch in peace and quiet. Rambo will find himself embroiled in a war with one of Mexico’s most violent criminals when he crosses the U.S.-Mexico border. Blood and gore will likely ensue.
As is currently stands, Rambo 5 does not have a release date, but stay tuned to The Nerd Stash for further updates on this classic franchise.
