Illinois residents are stunned after multiple sightings of a real-life ‘pear car’ are seen driving down the highway. The fruit-shaped car is a special creation by Andrew Glubbey, who has the unique goal of taking the pear on a cross-country trip throughout the U.S. this summer. You can check out his adventures on his TikTok channel, Glubbey.
The car has already had multiple adventures, including being pulled over by the cops, all of which can be seen on the channel. The man behind the car explains he just loves the shape of pears, describing it as happy and voluptuous. His journey began in Florida, and he is now making his way through Illinois, where he has caused quite a commotion among locals. A few days ago, a pear was spotted outside of Mt. Vernon and posted to TikTok. The video has nearly 77,000 views. Several people commented on the video with photos of pear sightings, including one at a Love’s gas station.
Another TikToker posted a recent video of the pear spotted traveling through Freeburg, Illinois. The car can be seen with @glubbey written on its side. The video has nearly 47,000 views, with nearly 5,000 likes since it was posted. The sighting has everyone losing it. One commenter says, “I thought I was tripping.” Many have taken to the comments to ask what is happening. One person shares their own encounter with the pear: “My boyfriend yelled so hurriedly to get my attention so that I would see it. We were both so confused.”
Illinois Locals Are Losing It Over The Pear
Several local Illinois residents say that when they first saw the car, they didn’t know what was happening. Some of them didn’t even realize that the car is pear-shaped. One says, “Saw it in O’Fallon Saturday, I thought it was an avocado.” Another agrees, “Mt.Vernon, IL. Thought it was an avocado.” The one who posted the video says when they first saw it, they thought it was a different fruit: “We thought it was an Apple.”
Others are disappointed at missing the chance to see the car in person. Such as one who says, “I was in Belleville all day.. didn’t see it.” The video has unlocked a mission for one commenter who says, “Wth I need to find that.” Another says, “Everyone nearby me in the comments has seen this but me.”
With the pear’s mission to travel to Seattle, it’s safe to say there will be plenty more sightings to come this summer.
