A relaxing day at a North Carolina community pool took an unexpected turn after an argument between two men escalated into a confrontation that prompted police to respond. But even after officers arrived, tensions didn’t immediately ease, with the pool owner becoming involved in the dispute and drawing criticism from one of the responding officers.
TikTok user Lynxh93, Tim, had stated in his video he was “trying to enjoy the pool” when a man allegedly assaulted two people and attempted to assault another woman holding a toddler. After the man got into fights with several other people, somebody called the police.
In Tim’s video, police arrive and start speaking with the owner of the Blue Waters Pool, Jimmy. Jimmy is all riled up and trying to explain to police what happened. Meanwhile, Jimmy’s wife is crying and trying to calm down her husband but he doesn’t seem to be listening. You can hear her say “shut up” and instruct her husband to stop being volatile toward police.
Eventually, things get heated enough Jimmy gets incredibly close to several officers. They lead him out of the pool area while his wife screams after him, “Where are you going?!” He turns to face his wife and says, “They’re taking me to jail!” While all this is happening, his wife dramatically screams at police, “No!! Please don’t take my husband!”
When police guide Jimmy to the front of the pool area, the Chief of Police gets in his face. He instructs Jimmy to “stop and be respectful” and to “act like an adult.” He tells Jimmy, “I will take you to jail personally.” While Tim is recording all of this, Jimmy’s wife marches toward him and tells him to remove his phone “from the scene” while pushing it away. She screams in his face and says, “Go away! We don’t need you.”
Jimmy can be heard telling police about what happened that led up to the incident. The Chief says, “We don’t know that. We come in and think you’re the aggressor” because they walked in on Jimmy making a scene. With at least two people already supposedly assaulted, Jimmy wasn’t making the situation any easier.
People online react to the kerfuffle at Blue Waters Pool
Hundreds of commenters had their two cents to say, some of whom weren’t aware of the missing context (which was provided in the comments) and resulting in Jimmy, who wasn’t the aggressor or the man who assault several pool-goers, to catch some mean comments online.
One viewer suggested Jimmy read a fake book called How to Get a Dadgum Hold Of Yourself. It got thousands of Likes, including one from Tim.
Another had some kind words to say about Jimmy. “He runs a respectable place and wants a great family environment just like his dad and his grandfather.” Given the circumstance, it’s understandable why Jimmy was so flustered then.
Many commenters were critical of the officers’ handling of the situation, with some arguing the encounter might have unfolded differently had Jimmy been Black. “They gave him a second chance,” one TikTok user wrote in a comment that received more than 2,000 likes.
What began as an argument at a neighborhood pool has since become a much bigger conversation online. As the clip continues to circulate, viewers remain split over who was most at fault, with the debate extending well beyond the confrontation itself.
