Texas Senator Ted Cruz called Tucker Carlson “the most dangerous demagogue in America” and said he would “do everything humanly possible to defeat this poison.” Cruz made the remarks while discussing what he described as rising antisemitism on the political right.

"Tucker Carlson is the most dangerous demagogue in America."

While speaking at a conservative town hall in Texas, Cruz said rising antisemitism on the political right was “a cancer on the right” that was “spreading like a cancer” as he intensified his criticism of Tucker Carlson.

Cruz said antisemitism is “the gateway drug to anti-capitalism and anti-Americanism.” He also referred to what he called a “green-red alliance” between Islamists and communists in New York City.

Cruz said Carlson had stated there was “nobody on planet Earth he hates more than Christian Zionists.” He said Carlson specifically named him and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. “I wear his scorn with pride,” Cruz said.

Cruz said he was proud to stand with Israel and America. He also said, “Sharia law has no place in the United States of America.”

Public Reactions to Ted Cruz’s Tucker Carlson Remarks

Cruz’s remarks prompted a divided discussion, with many focusing on his characterization of antisemitism, Tucker Carlson and the broader political divide.

One user argued, “He’s saying anti semitism will lead to hating money and hating capitalism, which in itself is an incredibly anti semitic statement.” Another wrote, “Not because hating Jews is bad. But because it’s anti capitalistic and anti American—whatever the [expletive] that means.”

A separate response stated, “It’s antisemitism described as anti-antisemitism – ‘Hating Jews is the gateway to hating money.'” Another added, “‘The Holocaust was bad because it was a gateway to Communism’ would from anyone else be a [expletive] wild take. But not the Zodiac Killer.”

Not everyone rejected Cruz’s argument. One user wrote, “There’s a more real antisemitism that he’s talking about growing on the right than what you’re referencing.” Another argued, “Tucker has indisputably been one of the, if not the biggest voice for Gazans… While Tucker made legit thousands of republicans wake up and stop supporting this and trump. Reddit should actually love him for doing that even if they disagree with his other views.”

The debate over Cruz’s remarks continued as users disputed whether his warning reflected a genuine rise in antisemitism on the political right or an attempt to frame criticism of Israel and capitalism as part of the same issue.
