A Black woman in California accused a restaurant named The Meeting Spot of racism after she said they tried to make her party leave the restaurant during their visit.

The woman shared a video describing what she said happened during her visit. She wrote on screen, “The Meeting Spot in Inglewood does NOT welcome Black people.” At the beginning of the video, she warned other Black people against visiting the restaurant. “They don’t want you there,” she said, alleging that her group’s treatment was motivated by racial discrimination.

Black people in Inglewood and LA please beware, the meeting spot across the street from Tom’s and close to cinepolis and iconix is NOT a safe space for us!!! They do not want us there! They must be under new ownership bc my first experience was nothing like this but they never have to worry about me going back! #blackla #inglewoodcalifornia #thingstodoinla #blacklosangeles #labar

She then turned the camera toward a White man, saying that he claimed to be the owner of the restaurant. After that, she filmed another woman, explaining that although she did not know her role at the restaurant, she alleged that the woman had also harassed her party during the incident. According to the woman filming, the two individuals also confiscated the water that her group had.

The woman went on to accuse the two of lying to her party about why they were being asked to leave. According to her, the man who identified himself as the owner told them that the restaurant was hosting a private event and that they needed to leave. She said that her party then asked the hostess whether that was actually the case. According to the woman, the hostess replied that it was a public event and that everyone was allowed to be there.

“They would not just let us live,” the woman said, referring to the two individuals she had accused of mistreating her party. According to her, they were then told that if they wanted to remain at the restaurant, they would have to place an order. She alleged that after asking for a menu, no one was willing to bring them one. “Everybody had an attitude,” she said.

The woman said she believed they simply wanted her party to leave the restaurant. According to her, once the two individuals realized she was recording the interaction, they became uncomfortable. They also accused her of trying to “ruin” their small business. The video ended shortly afterward. Following its release online, several viewers said they planned to leave negative reviews for the restaurant in response to the woman’s allegations.

Several viewers also encouraged the woman to consider taking legal action if her allegations were accurate. “Please start filing complaints with the U.S. Department of Justice and get a civil rights attorney and not allow these companies to get away with this because it is illegal to be bias,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “In MY CITY that I GREW UP IN!! Big bet going on purpose lol cause now I’m about to send ALL my people there TO get your business shut down and out my city! Big bet big bet! Thanks for this.”
