In an attempt to cool down from the summer heat, a Nebraska resident ordered ice cream on DoorDash but was deeply disappointed after their delivery never arrived. Their disappointment doesn’t just stem from not being able to eat their cold treat. The DoorDash driver reportedly refused to use a call box to enter the apartment and instead left the ice cream outside to melt. If that wasn’t bad enough, they mocked the customer afterward.
ButterBiskitSock, a trans person who’s unable to walk due to disability, posted their interaction with their unkind DoorDasher on r/doordash. “I cannot walk outside of my very small apartment, so obviously the food is lost,” they explained, adding how they also tipped the Dasher $10 for a 2-mile trip. The screenshots in the post show what the DoorDasher said to this unfortunate customer.
In response to ButterBiskitSock telling the driver that they were disabled, the driver replied that the closest they could get was the apartment entrance. But they didn’t stop there; they said, “Your items are melting. Hope you can enjoy them.” ButterBiskitSock was devastated: “I definitely cried a little tbh, my AC is broken and it’s 91°F so I really needed that ice cream.”

Thousands of Redditors expressed sympathy and support for ButterBiskitSock, as there was no reason as to why they should have been treated like this. “The tip is irrelevant. I don’t care if you didn’t tip at all, this isn’t acceptable behavior,” read a comment. “I hope they get banned from being able to dash. What a terrible person!” exclaimed a second.
Others chimed in, agreeing that $10 for two miles is objectively generous, but regardless of tip, the DoorDasher had no right to mistreat ButterBiskitSock that way. Fortunately for this disabled Nebraska tenant, their story had a good ending.
DoorDash refunded the order, giving OP double the amount spent as credit. On top of that, they also finally got their chilly dessert. “I did get some!! Also my AC is fixed so my maintenance guy got some ice cream too,” ButterBiskitSock concluded.
