A nail salon owner in New York was accused of allegedly assaulting a customer after the customer asked for her nails to be made shorter during an appointment.

The customer later shared a video of herself in tears as she described what she alleged had happened. She claimed the incident took place at a salon called Alica Nail Spa and warned others not to visit the business. According to her, she wanted to speak out so that no one else would experience the same situation.

The video also included a photo of the customer’s nails after the appointment. According to the customer, they were longer than she wanted, so she asked the salon owner, who was also her nail technician, if they could be made shorter. She alleged that the owner became upset in response and told her that she should have requested the shorter length earlier in the appointment.

The customer alleged that the owner continued yelling at her, prompting her to try to de-escalate the situation by offering to pay extra for the service. According to the customer, the owner then demanded that she hand over her hands. The customer said she refused, explaining that she no longer felt comfortable allowing the owner to touch her because of the way she was behaving.

Another nail technician then took over and began working on her nails. The customer alleged that the owner continued yelling at her from across the salon. The customer said she eventually stood up in an attempt to calm the situation, but claimed the encounter turned physical. “She ran towards me and she grabbed my hair and she pulled me back,” the customer said through tears while describing the alleged assault.

The customer said she ran out of the salon to get away, but the owner allegedly chased her down the street and attempted to grab her again. She then sought shelter inside a nearby burger restaurant, where she claimed the owner followed her and repeatedly insisted that she could not leave.

The customer said employees at the burger restaurant told her they could not do much to help because the business had only one exit. As the situation continued, she said she waited inside until police arrived. She added that she later filed a harassment report over the incident.

The customer also said she never raised her voice during the interaction. She identified the salon owner as Wendy and emphasized that she had intended to pay for the service the entire time, adding that she was never trying to leave the salon without paying.

More Details About the Alleged Assault

The customer later posted a follow-up video with additional details about the alleged incident. She claimed that the police “didn’t care” that the owner had grabbed her. While many viewers described the alleged conduct as an assault, she said officers handled the matter as a harassment complaint rather than treating it as an assault.

The customer also claimed that officers instructed her to return to the nail salon and pay for the service, even though she said it had not been completed. She added that she was considering disputing the charge with her bank because she did not believe she had consented to paying under those circumstances.

The customer also said the owner repeatedly told the responding officers that she had surveillance footage showing the customer trying to leave without paying. In response, the customer said she urged the owner to show the footage, arguing that it would also capture what she alleged was the physical altercation.

She also claimed the officers told her that because they had not witnessed the alleged attack themselves, there was little they could do. The customer said she felt they did not believe her account of what happened. She further alleged that the owner gave officers a false name. None of these claims have been independently verified.

Viewers Divided Over Alleged Assault in New York

The video sparked reactions online. Viewers were divided over whether to believe the New York customer’s account. Those who supported her encouraged her to pursue further legal action against the nail salon owner. “You should sue her,” one person wrote. Another commented, “It’s assault, file a complaint about the police. They don’t always know the laws they enforce. Also, all assaults should involve an arrest, I believe.”

Others were skeptical of the customer’s version of events and accused her of not telling the full story. “This seems sus, like bad acting,” one person wrote. Another commented, “yall dont waste ur time, in the update she literally says that the police had the option to see the security footage but didnt so shes most likely not telling the full story.” That criticism prompted another viewer to defend the customer, writing, “are you slow in the head? I think you are, please genuinely explain how the police having the option to see the footage and the POLICE not her, choosing not to is her fault? Them choosing not to look at the footage isn’t her fault, she didn’t tell them ‘hey don’t look at the footage’ before you start speaking at least know what ur saying is true, pathetic bootlicker.”

The video sparked a conversation about the challenges of evaluating allegations when only one side of an incident has been publicly shared. It also led to broader discussions about how police should handle reports of alleged assaults, including whether officers should thoroughly review available evidence before deciding how to proceed.
