A Jersey Mike’s employee in Baltimore, Maryland, is being applauded online for how he handled a customer who reportedly demanded a free meal to celebrate her birthday. The employee, who identified himself as David, refused to give in to the woman’s request, and it led to a heated argument between the two.
A video posted on X by @Rightanglenews captures the two going at each other. The woman dared the employee to repeat what he had said before she began recording. “You said get the [expletive] out, right? You said get the [expletive] out, right? Say it now,” she egged him. The employee repeated it to her and then called her “broke” for not affording a $10 meal.
The woman warned that she would make him lose his job and even threatened to sue the employee, but the employee laughed off the threats, telling her she would need money first to file a lawsuit.
On multiple occasions, the woman would move toward the exit to leave, but each time she would come back to argue some more. The confrontation finally ended after she purchased a meal and left the restaurant with her partner.
Netizens React to the Maryland Jersey Mike’s Confrontation
Many people on X sided with the employee, arguing that customers are not entitled to free food simply because it is their birthday. “The entitlement is off the charts in 2026,” one person wrote. Another commented, “The audacity to walk into Jersey Mike’s and demand free food like it’s your constitutional right… he said what he said and I respect the boundary.” A third mocked, “Lawsuit? Whats she gonna do? Roll up to a lawyer and tell them its her birthday too?”
Someone else added, “Who do these people think they are demanding free food and being nasty to the servers and workers.”
Others praised the employee for refusing to back down. “Respect to the employee. You can’t just walk in demanding free food and then curse at staff when they say no. Good on him for standing his ground,” one comment read. Another viewer called him, “Employee of the month!!!” while a third urged, “Give this guy a raise @jerseymikes.”
Some netizens, however, were on the customer’s side. “All she wanted was a free sandwich. Give that girl a free meal for her birthday,” one person argued. Another wrote, “I think he was very rude to her tho, she just asked for food that’s all.”
As of this writing, the video has racked up more than 9 million views on X and over 100,000 likes. Jersey Mike’s has not released an official statement about the viral video.
