The World Cup is finally over, but that doesn’t mean some minor events surrounding it are gone. As you know, there have been a lot of careless fans between and during the matches, and unfortunately, Argentinians were the ones who made it to the news for the wrong reasons. During yesterday’s final match, many New Jersey residents noticed Argentinian fans carelessly crossing and evading traffic on Route 3, to the point that some drivers reported the road had to be closed momentarily due to them.
Reddit user MRtokeALOT420 shared a clip showcasing a group of supposedly Argentinian fans seen carelessly evading traffic while crossing Route 3 in New Jersey. You can see the group stopping to see if there isn’t any incoming traffic before making it to the other side, which should not be allowed, as people, regardless of the country, should use bridges or different crossings.
On top of that, some New Jersey residents mentioned how Route 3 had to be closed for a while, and many believe it was for this reason. While frustrating for some, it was likely the best call, as the Argentinian fans could’ve caused an accident that would have harmed them and those inside a vehicle.
And while many are criticizing the World Cup fans, a few have played the Devil’s advocate, as they think it should be the government’s job to provide easier access to these busy locations, especially during events such as the World Cup.
New Jersey Redditors Believe A Bit of Fault Lies on the Government
Despite many thinking that the main culprits of this situation are the Argentinian fans, some looked at this and thought the government was also at fault.
“The agencies responsible for partnering with FIFA to organize appropriate parking, public transportation and customer experience have failed attendees — and surrounding area residents who are impacted by their incompetence and negligence.“
And while the above is a valid point, some still think that the fans in the video should’ve looked for a different way to cross.
“These people aren’t rocket scientists.”
“So they can afford those tickets, but not a proper ride to the stadium? lmao“
Ultimately, many are thankful there were no casualties during this dangerous situation, but many still believe authorities should have better ways to access certain areas and that fans should take their time to find a safer way to arrive at these locales instead of putting others and themselves in harm’s way.
