A man in Pennsylvania was called racist online after he was filmed harassing a Black cyclist and then appeared to spit at him during the confrontation.
The confrontation appeared to have begun after a road rage incident between the two. The cyclist was riding his bike, while the other man was inside a work vehicle. During the encounter, the man directed a racial remark at the cyclist. The video began with him yelling, “You pull right in front of me, you black [expletive].”
The cyclist then began filming the information displayed on the man’s work vehicle and told him that he was going to get fired, prompting the man to smile. The cyclist then called him a “racist.” In response, the man flashed a peace sign. When the cyclist asked for his name, the man quickly got out of his vehicle, continued insulting the cyclist, and repeatedly asked him what he wanted.
“Take that [expletive] phone and stick it up your [expletive],” the man said. As the cyclist continued recording, the man appeared to spit in his direction before getting back into his vehicle. A spitting sound could be heard in the video, although it is unclear from the footage whether the spit actually struck the cyclist. The cyclist then responded by cursing at the man.
As the cyclist repeated that the man would lose his job over the incident, the man replied, “I’m gonna have a hard time losing my job.” The man was later identified online by social media users, who claimed he owned the company whose vehicle he was driving, which some speculated could explain his response. The video ended with the man driving away while the cyclist followed behind, apparently intending to continue the confrontation. It is unclear what happened after the recording ended.
