A Delaware mail carrier is facing accusations of repeatedly harassing a Hispanic homeowner by allegedly mentioning ICE during deliveries and telling him, “You are an immigrant.”
The allegations surfaced in a handheld video recorded on a residential street in Wilmington, Delaware. The footage shows a confrontation between the homeowner and a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier after the homeowner appears to approach the carrier’s vehicle to question him about his alleged remarks.
In the video, the homeowner walks toward the mail truck and directly asks the carrier why he has been talking about calling immigration authorities. He says he does not understand what the carrier’s problem is and explains that he has never had trouble with him before.
“Why you go to my home and talking for ICE? I don’t have any trouble with you. I am a Christian man. I don’t have any problem,” the homeowner says in the video. He then claims that the carrier mentions ICE whenever he comes to his home.
“Every time you come into my house, you speak, and you say ICE. What is your problem? I call you the company, okay?” he adds.
By that point, the homeowner has reached the mail truck, but the carrier appears to close the vehicle’s doors. The situation does not end there, though. As the homeowner begins walking away, the carrier opens the door and asks him whether he is an immigrant.
“You are an immigrant?” the carrier asks.
The homeowner denies being an immigrant, but the carrier appears to insist that he is one, telling him, “You are an immigrant.”
The homeowner then responds, “You too,” before the carrier says that he was born in America. The homeowner also appears to explain that he came to the United States with papers.
The video was shared on TikTok by @wwwmadre.de.5terremotos, who appears to be the homeowner’s wife. In the post’s caption, she described the incident as part of what the family says has been ongoing harassment at their home.
According to her account, the mail carrier has allegedly been aggressively knocking on their front door, calling them immigrants and threatening to call ICE.
The post was later shared on X by @LongTimeHistory, whose caption repeated additional claims about the alleged daily harassment and said the family had already reported the carrier to USPS. The post further claims that the situation has left the family frightened, particularly because they have a special-needs baby.
The video itself captures only part of the dispute, and the allegations made in the social media posts have not been independently verified.
Internet Reacts to Delaware Mail Carrier’s ICE Threats
The video sparked heated debate online, with many commenters condemning the carrier’s behavior and calling for consequences. One commenter wrote, “Imagine being a minority whose ancestors were enslaved for more than 400 years, yet being racist against another minority. This is really sad,” while another added, “Have him fired!!!!! He’s a federal worker, shame on him!!! Racist.”
Several others focused on next steps, with one suggesting, “I would suggest forwarding this video to the Post Master in his branch. This should not be tolerated,” and another urging, “I hope you don’t stay silent and let him get away with it. Show this video to his supervisor and speak to a lawyer.”
A fourth commenter took a broader view, writing, “Whether or not you are a citizen is irrelevant. He has no right to treat people that way—period. I hope he gets punished so he learns his lesson.”
USPS carriers are federal employees bound by conduct standards that prohibit harassment or discrimination against customers on their routes. Delaware officials, including Governor Matt Meyer’s office, have recently pushed “know your rights” campaigns aimed at protecting immigrant residents amid heightened ICE activity nationwide.
