Florida Nurse’s Six-Foot Stuffed Alpaca Sets Off Alarm and Brings Cops to Her Home: ‘Guilty of Criminal Negligence’

Never leave an alpaca to watch the house

A Florida nurse had the cops called on her when the security system mistook her six-foot stuffed toy alpaca for a person. The alpaca named Katrina has caught attention online, with the TikTok video getting over 221,000 views and over 24,000 likes.

The Florida nurse was away with her husband at Disney when they “got the cops called on [them].” As a safety precaution, the couple has an extensive security system set up inside their home. However, this doesn’t mean the system can’t make mistakes. When the system caught the cats’ movement, it also saw “this gigantic six-foot-tall alpaca monstrosity and thought it saw a person.” So to protect the house, it set off the alarm.

Leave the 6ft tall Alpaca in charge of the house for a few days and you just may end up with the police at your front door! But really, thank you to @stpetepd for their quick response! Who knew an Alpaca would cause such a ruckus #securitycamera #alarm #police #oops #cat

The security company attempted to call them, but after a day at Disney, they were so exhausted that they slept through the phone calls. The company followed protocol and contacted the local police. The craziest part of the story is that this occurred during a storm, so the officer “drove through decent flood waters to come check on [the] house.” The Florida nurse thanks the police for responding and assures it was a false alarm. She promises the cats and Katrina are fine. Meanwhile, she is working with the security company to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Unfortunately, the “6-foot-tall alpaca [is] guilty of criminal negligence.”

Many Are On The Florida Alpaca’s Side

Some have pointed out that Katrina doesn’t seem to have any shame over the incident. One commenter says, “It looks like Katrina has zero regrets.” However, others are rushing to her defense, stating, “Guilty of criminal negligence? But was she tried by a jury of her alpaca peers?” Though some are hopeful the toy alpaca doesn’t go to court, as one commenter goes “for jury duty in a few weeks.” And they do not wish to find Katrina guilty.

However, most find the whole situation hilarious and feel that this could only happen to the Florida nurse. She has a history of posting ‘bad luck’ videos, along with a look at her job as a nurse, on her TikTok channel. One comment reads, “Imagine the cops making the call ‘Nope, just a fake alpaca’.” Another says, “St Pete PD gets a call —- ‘it’s [expletive] Katrina again’.” One commenter has the perfect summary for the incident: “Going to Disney so much fun! Having my cats [and] Alpaca set off the alarm, priceless.”

The Florida nurse and her husband have learned a valuable lesson in not leaving the alpaca in charge of watching the house.
