A Tennessee waitress says her own mother reported her to HR for posting TikToks in uniform, costing her job. During an emotional final checkout, she worries about how the termination will affect her sons. The story sparked outrage, with viewers criticizing both her employer and mom.

TikTok user @ataylor414 shared the video explaining that two HR complaints had been filed against her in recent weeks. That stood out because, according to the Tennessee creator, “I’ve never gotten an HR complaint in my life, ever.”

She then reveals who filed them. “Those two complaints came from my mother,” she says. “Those complaints just got me terminated from my job. My own mother.” The creator becomes emotional as she talks about how losing her job could affect her children. “Your two grandsons will be the only people to suffer from this,” she says before calling her mom a “monster.”

In a follow-up comment, @ataylor414 provides more context about the complaints. “There are no complaints essentially,” she wrote. “She called stating I violated the company policy by being on TikTok in my uniform.”

Internet Rallies Behind Tennessee Woman

The Tennessee employer behind the firing got almost as much heat from commenters as the creator’s mother. “So they know it was your mother and still fired you?” one person questioned. Another wrote, “I blame your employer. There’s crazy people everywhere, but your employer should have your back.”

The backlash even had some people reconsidering where they spend their money. “So we’re all boycotting Iron Skillet, right?” one commenter asked. One person who said they lived nearby was ready to do exactly that. “If this is how they are going to treat their employees I will not patronize this place again,” they wrote.

Viewers also weren’t shy about calling out what they saw as toxicity in her mother’s role in the firing. One encouraged the creator to cut contact entirely. “Delete. Block. No contact. It’s worth your sanity sweetie,” they wrote.

Amid all the outrage and calls for a boycott, one former customer brought a more heartfelt note to the conversation. “You were always absolutely fantastic every time I came in there,” they wrote, adding that she would be missed.

For many viewers, the story went beyond losing a job. The family conflict echoed a larger conversation about people going “no contact” with parents they feel are harmful. Some saw the creator’s experience as another example of why people choose that distance.
