A video was posted to X that features Jewish educator Moshe Spern speaking at an End Jew Hatred rally in New York. In it, he directly blames Mayor Zohran Mamdani for creating the “climate that led to a stabbing on the Upper West Side of an Asian American and a Jewish American.”

Comments were divided, with some thanking Spern for speaking publicly and arguing that antisemitism has become a serious problem that isn’t being taken seriously enough. Others argue that the post unfairly blames Mayor Mamdani for crimes committed by unrelated individuals.

Mamdani’s “war criminal” video didn’t just libel Jews, it helped create the climate that led to a stabbing on the Upper West Side of an Asian American and a Jewish American.

The person speaking in the video posted to X is a member of the United Jewish Teachers, an organization for Jewish educators and staff in public schools across New York City. He is on the Upper West Side for a United Against Hate protest that accuses Mayor Zohran Mamdani of antisemitism because of his recent post to social media concerning Benjamin Netanyahu.

Specifically, Spern can be heard saying, “There are people who think we are crazy. There are people who think we are overreacting. There are people who think that a two-minute video has zero impact on Thursday.“

In the video Mayor Mamdani had posted, he accuses Benjamin Netanyahu of being a war criminal, stating that the city does not have the authority to arrest him, despite it being a part of his campaign when initially running for mayor. The video was taken by the Jewish community to be a public-facing act of antisemitism.

Throughout the video, he continues to name different instances in which the Jewish community he perceived as “inciting violence.” Part of the caption that is paired with the video reads, “Mamdani’s “war criminal” video didn’t just libel Jews, it helped create the climate that led to a stabbing on the Upper West Side of an Asian American and a Jewish American.”

Comments and Reactions Towards Mayor Zohran Mamdani Antisemitism Allegations

The comments were divided, with a majority of people firmly against what Moshe Spern had to say. One person commented, “Do you ever get tired of being an insufferable cry baby?” To this, Spern replied with, “You ever get tired of being a self hating Jew?“

Similarly, another user wrote, “Only reason you’d be upset that Mamdani called bibi what he is, a war criminal, is if you yourself is also a war criminal. If you think what’s happening in Gaza and Lebanon is anything other than genocide you too deserve to be tried in the ICC. Evil human beings you all are.”

On the other hand, there were also users who were on Spern’s side, with one user commenting, “Thank you for your bravery in standing up and speaking out….“

The topic is continuing to go viral on X, with more people leaving their frustrations and opinions behind in the comments section below the video.
