A black Oklahoma woman is facing backlash after posting a TikTok video in which she says she believes she should receive reparations payments. In the clip, she tells viewers she has become increasingly frustrated before saying, “I’m getting to the point where I need my reparations.”

She repeated that she wanted her reparations before continuing, “I’m kinda tired of dealing with racism and white supremacy without my check in my hand.” The woman added that if she was going to continue dealing with what she described, she believed she should be compensated. She also doubled down on her views in the video’s caption, writing, “I’m over it! They owe us our check and like Martin said I’m going to go get my money!”

The woman’s comments touched on one of the most debated issues in the United States. Many black Americans support reparations as a way to address the lasting economic and social effects of slavery, segregation, and systemic discrimination, arguing that these historical injustices have contributed to ongoing racial disparities in wealth and opportunity.

At the same time, many white Americans oppose reparations for a variety of reasons, including concerns about fairness, eligibility, funding, or the belief that people today should not be held financially responsible for historical wrongs. Public opinion polls have consistently found a substantial divide in support for reparations across racial groups, making the issue a longstanding source of political and public debate.

Viewers Criticize Black Oklahoma Woman Over Reparations Request

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the Oklahoma woman’s call for reparations. Several argued that no one should receive such payments. “Reparations for what? Lol,” one person asked. Another commenter said, “Of all the things that are never going to happen, reparations are never going to happen the most.”

More viewers criticized the woman’s comments. “This [expletive] needs to stop. No reparations for something that ended 161 years ago,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “Sooo TIRED of people asking for reparations for something they never experienced.” A smaller number of commenters supported her position. “And it’s crazy because this government be giving money to everybody except us,” one person wrote.

The video sparked renewed discussion about whether reparations should be provided to the descendants of enslaved people in the United States. It also highlighted how the issue remains deeply divisive, with strong opinions from both supporters and opponents continuing to fuel debate online and in broader discussions about race, history, and public policy.
