It was only a couple of days ago that we reported how Florida fans were up in arms over Ariana Grande’s appearance in her latest music video, causing a massive amount of backlash across social media. Ariana Grande will now take a step back from public life after her Eternal Sunshine Tour wraps, her representative confirmed Sunday, and has already dropped out of the West End revival of “Sunday in the Park With George.” Her rep explicitly cited “endless, ongoing public scrutiny” over her public appearances as the reason, rather than any health claim.
After a heated weekend and discourse over her gaunt appearance in her latest video, her official reps offered this statement to ABC News.
Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour. She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny. This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.
Grande, a three-time Grammy winner who reached A-list film status with 2024’s “Wicked,” was set to star opposite her “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey in the Sondheim revival at London’s Barbican Centre next summer. She’ll next appear in “Focker-in-Law” alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller, out Nov. 25.
This statement, of course, only escalated the ongoing war of words over her appearance, and how harsh it can be for women in the public eye having to deal with body issues, while other concerned Florida folks said the break is clearly tied to how dangerously thin she appeared.

“Ariana Grande needs as much love and support right now as she can get and not advice from people trying to be funny. People with eating disorders can decline really fast. Eating disorders don’t get the attention they once did. I hope she gets well.”
The Eternal Sunshine Tour wraps on Sept. 1, after which Florida superstar Ariana Grande’s break from public-facing work is expected to begin.
