Kentucky singer Tinashe has drawn attention after criticizing her Republican fans and telling them they could leave.
Tinashe is a singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress best known for her R&B and pop music. She began her entertainment career as a child actress before joining the girl group The Stunners. She later pursued a solo career, gaining widespread recognition with her 2014 hit single “2 On,” featuring Schoolboy Q. Over the years, she has released several albums, including Aquarius, Nightride, Joyride, and Quantum Baby. In 2024, she experienced renewed commercial success with her viral single “Nasty,” which gained significant popularity on social media.
The singer drew further attention after recently sharing a post on X encouraging her fans to vote. “VOTE OR DIE ! LETS GO AMERICA,” the post read. She also included several blue hearts, which are commonly associated with support for Democrats. Some interpreted the emojis as Tinashe’s way of expressing support for the Democratic Party.
Following the post, some of Tinashe’s Republican fans criticized her apparent political stance. One fan wrote, “you literally just refuse to listen to those of us with sense. Did you have to have the blue hearts…alienating your red audience? Girl, are you neurodivergent? It gets to a point…”
Rather than backing down, Tinashe responded directly to her Republican fans, writing, “Yall can go.” She then doubled down on her stance, making it clear that the criticism would not change her opinion. “I do not care,” she wrote in another response.
This is not the first time a singer has publicly criticized fans for supporting Republicans or President Donald Trump. In 2018, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong responded angrily to a Trump-supporting fan on Instagram after the fan defended the president, telling them to stop listening to his music.
Similarly, in June 2025, Ronnie Winter, lead singer of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, criticized fans who voted for Trump and told them not to attend his concerts. Winter argued that his performances promoted acceptance and values that he believed conflicted with Trump’s political positions. However, the band later clarified that everyone was welcome at its events. Tinashe’s recent response follows other instances of musicians publicly disagreeing with fans over their political beliefs.
Internet Users Praise Kentucky Singer After Slamming Her Republican Fans
Many X users praised Kentucky singer Tinashe for her response to Republican fans, with some of her Democratic supporters expressing agreement with her stance. “Gagged them as you should,” one person wrote. Another told the singer, “you been publicly a devout blue voter for over a decade idk why they acting surprised.”
Others continued expressing support for Tinashe and her response to Republican fans. “Alienating and shunning conservative fans is ALWAYS the correct position,” one person wrote. Another commented, “Didn’t think it was possible love you even more now.” Someone else added, “Lmaoooooo ily Tinashe. Always on the right side of history.”
Tinashe’s response highlighted how some celebrities are willing to express their political views publicly, even when those opinions draw criticism from their own fans. The reactions also demonstrated how taking a political stance can affect a celebrity’s relationship with their audience, potentially attracting support from some fans while alienating others who disagree with their beliefs.
