A New York woman says that she had a less-than-perfect experience when she was shopping at Sephora. Confronted by an employee who may have meant well, she felt her own features were being targeted. This shopper was not impressed and has a lot to say about the ordeal.
Abby (@abbythebadassmom) posted a TikTok video about her latest Sephora shopping experience and how it made her feel. According to Abby, the employee came up to her and said, “Your under eyes need a lot of help. Can I show you something for them?” Abby responded with, “I know what’s underneath my eyes but thank you.” To this entire situation, she asks, “Are you freaking serious?”
The conversation didn’t end there, however. To rub more salt in the wound, Abby says the employee asked, “Can I show you a moisturizer then?” Abby said she was completely turned off by the conversation and wasn’t in the mood to see anything the employer had to show her after she felt that her looks were being targeted.
She said the employee could have nicely asked her, “Can I help you find something?” instead. Abby said she wonders if the employee approaches people with acne and tells them, “Wow, your skin is really bad with all that acne. Can I show you something for it?”
Abby said that she hopes that Sephora employees will “think twice” before they approach someone and make them feel bad about what’s on their face. She tells her audience that she thinks this was a poor choice in giving her a “product recommendation.”
