Pennsylvania Comic Con Scare as Highlander Legend Christopher Lambert Collapses Mid-Signing and Is Rushed Out by Ambulance Before the Update Fans Needed: ‘Perfectly OK’

He got up!

The man who spent four decades playing an immortal gave a Pittsburgh convention hall the scare of its weekend, and then the story turned into the ending every fan in the building was hoping for.

The frightening moment came Saturday at Steel City Con in Pennsylvania, where Christopher Lambert, 69, was signing autographs and posing with fans at his booth when he suddenly collapsed on the convention floor. Witnesses told TMZ that emergency personnel responded within moments and transported the Highlander star out of the hall by ambulance as stunned attendees looked on. Social posts from earlier in the day showed the actor smiling through photo ops, which made the sudden turn all the more jarring for the fans lined up to meet him.

The convention’s first public word only deepened the worry: organizers announced his remaining Saturday photo opportunities were canceled because the actor had to leave over a “personal issue,” leaving fans who had watched an ambulance depart with Connor MacLeod inside to fear the worst.

The all-clear arrived fast. A representative for Lambert told TMZ he is “perfectly ok” and resting at his hotel, explaining that the actor had gone into the day on no sleep and barely any food, which sent his blood sugar crashing. He was released without needing further observation, and his camp says there is no expectation of any lasting impact.

Then came the part that turned relief into celebration: by Sunday morning, reports indicated Lambert planned to be back on the convention floor for the show’s final day, and he remains confident he will make FAN EXPO Chicago next weekend as scheduled.

For the crowd at Steel City, the scare hit harder because of who he is to them. Lambert has remained a fixture of the circuit for years even as his film work slowed, and he is convention royalty of the exact vintage this audience treasures: the immortal swordsman of 1986’s Highlander and its sequels, Raiden in 1995’s Mortal Kombat, a role whose voice and likeness he lent to Mortal Kombat 1 decades later, and Tarzan in Greystoke. The con had promoted his appearance with the franchise’s own five famous words: there can only be one.

The Immortal Gets Back Up

A 69-year-old actor running himself to empty across a packed convention weekend, skipping sleep and meals to keep signing for the fans who kept his legends alive, is its own kind of tribute, and the exhale that followed filled his mentions. “There can be only one… full recovery. Get well soon, Christopher,” one fan wrote, turning the catchphrase into a get-well card. “I’m glad he’s okay,” a relieved con-goer added, while another kept it simple: “Loved the movie Highlander.” He most recently appeared in 2025’s The Creeps, and the circuit remains full of stops that want him.

The quickening, it turns out, was just low blood sugar. Somebody get the Highlander a sandwich and a nap, because the man has a convention to finish.
