A man claimed a North Carolina restaurant served him old food. Jorge Mock reviews food around the Winston-Salem area. In this video, he decided to check out Bread of Heaven Soul Food restaurant in Old Salem. However, after receiving his order, he claims “that anything they actually have to cook and not just throw in a deep fryer is old.”
The restaurant has a vintage aesthetic that he described as creepy and depressing, calling it “like a horror movie.” In the video, he appears to be the only customer. He orders the Big Mack Morning Load, which gives him a mix of brunch items. This includes an omelet, pancake, steak, chicken-fried steak, grits, and hashbrowns. However, when he tries the chicken in the golden omelet, he spits it out into a napkin. He claims, “That literally tastes rotten” and describes it as having a “sour taste.”
The North Carolina man describes the bacon as “cold, like it had been sitting there.” In the video, he also spits out the steak. Then he asks, “Do I feel like the [expletive] steak is spoiled too?” He describes it as tasting rubbery and slimy. Additionally, even the grits allegedly taste like “water with grit in it.” After telling the server about his concerns, he was given fried chicken and greens that he says just tasted like boiled leaves.
However, not everything on the plates was bad. The North Carolina man states that the non-meat products, such as the pancake and the biscuit, tasted okay. When detailing his experience with the restaurant, Mock says, “It’s pretty sad that the only edible thing is the inside of a bland fried chicken.” His video has nearly 40,000 views and nearly 2,000 likes.
Red Flags Called Out In North Carolina Restaurant
Many in the comments point out the red flags with the North Carolina establishment that can be seen the second he arrived. One says, “An empty soul food restaurant is a bad restaurant.” Another wants to know, “You didn’t read the room when you were sitting there, and nobody else is there?” One comment reads, “All I know is soul food is supposed to have soul in it. That place probably haunted.”
Meanwhile, some commenters poke fun at the decor of the North Carolina restaurant. You can see in the video it has old-timey chairs and tables. One person asks, “Why does it look like the set from Sinners?” However, others are calling out the food. One states, “That’s that steak from Dollar Tree.” One says Mock was a better person than they would have been. They state, “I would’ve told them off as soon as they brought that pale [expletive] food to the table.”
Mock called the restaurant one of the worst he’s ever been to.
