New York City lawmakers criticized Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration after it published more than 900,000 property owners’ names and addresses. The list identified properties that may be subject to a city tax. The dispute intensified after administration officials did not appear at City Hall to answer questions about the rollout.

Fox News aired remarks from three City Council members criticizing how the administration handled the list.

Democratic Council Member Kamillah Hanks called the publication “a hit list of the haves and the have-nots” and “a scarlet letter.”

Fellow Democrat Eric Dinowitz called on administration officials to answer questions about the rollout. “They should show up and answer basic questions,” he said.

Republican Council Member Frank Morano also criticized their absence from City Hall. He called it “totally unacceptable” and said New Yorkers deserved answers.

“What are they hiding?” Morano asked. Fox News then turned to residents’ concerns about the public list. The network described the listed properties as those that “may be subject to this tax.”

The segment also cited criticism of publicly naming nearly one million homeowners. Questions remained over the rollout and the administration’s handling of homeowners’ information.

Zohran Mamdani Faces Doxxing Claims and Recall Calls Over Property List

Online criticism extended beyond the rollout, with users accusing the administration of doxxing homeowners and calling for political consequences.

One X user wrote, “Skips the hearing AND drops a public database of 900,000 ‘rich’ people? That’s not policy. That’s doxxing with extra steps.”

Another response stated, “He is doxxing people! Mamdani must be held accountable as an accomplice to any harm done to those on that list! Wow.”

The criticism also turned toward Mamdani’s future in office. One user wrote, “Time for a recall! They just did it in McKinley Texas. They can do it there too.”

Another questioned, “Can Mamdani be impeached or recalled by the voters in NYC or by Albany?”

While the criticism has expanded beyond the rollout itself, the online calls for Mamdani’s removal do not indicate that any formal recall process is underway. Instead, the reactions reflect how quickly a policy decision can become a broader political flashpoint.
