A Texas woman claims a nurse refused to give her pain medication after she underwent knee replacement surgery, despite reporting severe pain. She said the situation was later investigated by the surgical clinic, and the nurse ultimately lost her job. The incident has sparked a wider discussion about pain management and how patients are treated after major procedures.

Replying to @Mad max I genuinely hope she learns from this situation and finds a more suitable specialty – but I am happy to say she will no longer be caring for patients at this clinic. #tkr #kneereplacement #kneepain #nurse #nursing

The story was shared by Amanda, who goes by @amandatwell on TikTok. She posted two videos discussing what happened, and both attracted several hundred thousand views. In a follow-up, Amanda said she received a call from the nurse manager at the surgical clinic, who apologized for taking so long to provide an update.

Amanda explained that she reported her pain as an eight on the pain scale after her knee replacement surgery. She claims the nurse refused to give her the prescribed pain medication and instead provided other medication. The Texas woman also alleged that the nurse recorded a different pain level in her chart than the one she had reported.

According to Amanda, a technician at the clinic separately reported the nurse to the manager. She said the nurse manager later contacted her about the situation and apologized for how long it took to address her concerns.

Amanda said she did not want to celebrate someone losing their job because of her complaint. However, she also said she did not want another patient to go through the same experience, especially because she expects to undergo another knee replacement surgery for her other knee.

The allegations in the Texas woman’s videos have not been independently verified. Her account describes her experience and the clinic’s response, but the identity of the nurse and specific employment or disciplinary details were not disclosed in the videos provided.

Texas Woman’s Story Sparks Online Concern

The response was largely supportive, with viewers criticizing the nurse over the alleged refusal to provide pain medication and the claim that Amanda’s pain level was incorrectly documented. One user wrote, “You didn’t cause her to lose her job. She did it to herself. Advocating for yourself is something you don’t need to apologize about. I hope you heal quickly!”

Several nurses and healthcare workers also joined the discussion, saying that significant pain is common after knee replacement surgery and that patients’ reports of pain should be taken seriously. Others said the alleged charting issue was especially concerning.

Many viewers shared their own experiences of having their pain dismissed after surgeries or injuries. Some described nurses allegedly refusing medication or questioning their pain levels, while others said they had received excellent care from medical staff who closely monitored their pain.

Commenters also praised the clinic technician for reporting the nurse and encouraged the Texas woman to consider filing a complaint with the nursing board. Meanwhile, some viewers preparing for upcoming surgeries said the story made them nervous about whether they would receive adequate pain relief. Amanda may have another knee replacement ahead, but at least she now knows one thing: she won’t be staying quiet about her pain.
