A New Jersey woman who voted for President Donald Trump in past elections says she is done with politics after becoming disillusioned with the man she helped put back in the White House.
The woman, who said she had been a Republican for years, explained that she believed Trump was a better choice than Kamala Harris when she cast her ballot in the 2024 presidential election. Her opinion has since changed, however, and she now believes Trump lied to and “scammed” her.
She made her feelings pretty clear in a short TikTok video showing her climbing onto a chair to take down a large red “President Trump 2024” flag hanging on the wall. After pulling the flag down, she folded it up and tossed it onto the floor, saying, “I’m done.”
The clip quickly took off on TikTok, racking up more than 800,000 views within 24 hours. When asked by a commenter what was the final straw, she replied that a lot of things influenced her decision, but mostly the situation with the Epstein files.
Did Her Change of Heart Come Too Late?
Much of the reaction in the comments, particularly from liberal viewers, was unforgiving. Rather than praising the former Trump supporter for walking away, several people claimed that she had helped create the situation she was now unhappy with.
“A little too late. This is your fault,” one person said. Another wrote, “Now that youve ruined the country beyond repair. thanks [sic].” A third added, “We will never forgive.”
Others accused the woman of changing her position only after Trump’s policies began affecting her personally. “THEY ONLY START CARING WHEN IT STARTS TO AFFECT THEM!!!! do you know how many lives have been destroyed?” one viewer questioned. Another agreed, writing, “When it was hurting others she was fine with it.”
Someone who was not convinced that she had abandoned her old political loyalties for good chimed in, “She will vote Republican in the mid terms, this is performative nonsense.”
Still, there were other netizens who believed people shouldn’t pile on the woman for admitting that she had changed her mind. “Why yall mad at least she is realizing and making change,” a comment read. Another stated, “As much as I understand everyone’s frustration towards her, let’s just be happy she can admit she was wrong which a lot of MAGA can’t do.”
One netizen even supported the woman’s decision, saying, “You’re not the only one and I think the whole country is done with Trump.”
Despite her frustration with the President, the woman has made it clear that her change of heart does not mean she’s ready to switch parties. She said she does not plan to vote for Democrats either, explaining that she has lost faith in both sides and now views Democrats and Republicans much the same way.
