A Texas couple were accosted in the parking lot of a Costco, resulting in a confrontation with another customer. The man accused the couple of nearly causing an accident and threatened to call ICE on them.

TikTok user Theycallmenubbs, Michael, had captured the confrontation and posted it to his personal TikTok account. In his video, a Texas man is heard yelling and honking his car horn, telling Michael and his husband they were getting “too close” to his vehicle. The man even gets out of his car and shouts at Michael’s husband.

Michael’s partner asks the elderly man why he’s “this angry” so early in the morning. It’s at that point that the man broke out the racist remarks, threatening to call ICE on them as he walks away. Michael gets out of his vehicle, continuing to record the man, who approaches him and grabs onto Michael’s phone.

Michael tells him not to touch him, adding, “I’ll drop ya.” When Michael tells the man what he did was “assault,” the elderly driver, surprisingly, agrees with him. He tries to apologize to him and says, “I agree. I got too close.”

After recommending he get back in his car, the elderly man tells Michael, “No, I’m gonna stay right here where I’m allowed to stand.” The two bicker a little more, with Michael telling him he’s getting the cops involved because of assault and the threat of ICE. The man repeatedly said he “apologized,” then admitted, “I got hot. Let’s just get over this.” As he left, the man’s shirt is revealed to read: “Autism Awareness Month.”

Viewers online call the Texas man out for being racist

Viewers online made some poignant remarks, including that they should sue the man. People were overwhelmingly on Michael’s side, given how he acted.

“Love how they back pedal when they realize they fucked up,” said one commenter. Michael agreed—his first impression was indeed a bad one.

Michael elaborated further on the incident in the comments. When asked what started it, Michael shared that it was indeed because of Michael’s husband parking and thinking they were too close. “You can see there was plenty of space between us.” Others agree there was plenty of space, even before the lines.

The confrontation had continued beyond the video Michael shared on TikTok. “He apologized to you because you are white. Calling ICE on a brown person is almost a death sentence, I hope you called the cops,” a commenter said. In response, Michael said, “We did!”

No word on what transpired after, so it’s unknown if the couple made an official report.
