A Texas woman’s TikTok video is going viral upon uploading her quitting her job, right in the middle of an apparent team meeting. The reason? In her video, she claims a superior made racist remarks to her, and was subsequently displeased by how none of it seemed resolved.
Posted by TikTok user Leeleebeauuty1, Leelee was speaking with one of her managers when she stops her and says, “Not gonna lie, today is actually my last day.” She continues on, telling them she doesn’t feel comfortable working for a company that doesn’t “take racism seriously.” She said she reported the assistant general multiple times for racial remarks.
According to Lee, the assistant general manager said, when asked about a preferred flavor from Wing Shop, “No, I don’t eat chicken. That’s for colored folk.” He also made comments about black people “sitting in the back” and told her she should deal with the black people who come in because “those are your people.”
Leelee shares that she would have loved to get promoted, but just isn’t interested anymore. She said she’s not the only one that experienced racism there and it has left her feeling “awkward” in her position. Before leaving, she calls the accused assistant general manager as “racist.”
How people online are reacting to Leelee’s TikTok video
Viewers were shocked and stunned by the accusation, and made their feelings known about it. Some TikTok users were called out for hypocrisy for their supposed racism of another shade, leading to several debates in the comment section.
“They always pick on the lone black girl at work. Cowards,” remarked one user. Others speculated the accused racist of being “intimidated” by Leelee. Some made assumptions based on the manager’s body language, saying, “You can tell by the smirk he said a lot.”
Others viewers were comfortable sharing their own racism, but targeted at Mexican people. “And people wonder why we stopped tryna be an ally to everyone.” remarked a commenter, which got some pushback in the thread. A viewer argued they shouldn’t paint all Mexicans with the same brush.
Other viewers tried to offer advice, suggesting Leelee should sue the fitness center. Multiple commenters recommended it, sharing their own experience. One user said, “Sued my job in 2021 and won over 6 figures!!!”
At this time, Leelee has not shared whether she’ll be seeking legal counsel. It has since gained nearly 26,000 Views and nearly 1,500 comments, with many more being ongoing debates.
