A Colorado man got stuck on top of his truck and asked a passing driver for help, but he then used racist language after hearing the driver’s accent.

The driver shared a video showing the man stuck on top of his truck while explaining what had happened. He said the man had used a ladder to climb onto the truck, but the ladder later fell onto the driver’s own vehicle. This prompted him to get out of his truck to check for any damage. According to the driver, that was when the man began yelling at him to hand over the ladder so he could climb down.

Despite needing the driver’s help, the man allegedly became “racist” after hearing the driver’s accent. The driver said the man assumed he was an immigrant based on his accent. “You shouldn’t even be in this damn country,” he told the driver. The man then added, “You got a freaking accent. You’re Ukrainian or Russian.”

The man continued using racist language toward the driver while he remained stuck on top of the truck. “You shouldn’t be in here. Get the hell out of my country,” he said. The man then asked, “Do you even have a legal driver’s license?” Another part of the driver’s video showed the man pointing at him aggressively.

The situation escalated as the man began threatening the driver while still stuck on top of the truck. “I will eventually make it down from here, sir, and you will pay,” he said. He then added that he was going to figure out how to get down and repeated that the driver was going to “pay.”

The man then blamed the driver for the ladder falling, claiming it happened because the driver had parked next to his truck. “You’re in a no parking zone to begin with, so it ain’t my fault that you hit your damn truck,” he said. The driver then walked around the man’s truck and began filming the information displayed on it.

The driver also filmed the man’s license plate. Based on the video, the driver did not appear to help the man retrieve his ladder following his behavior and the racist language he used. The video ended with the man attempting to find a way to get down from the truck on his own. It remains unclear whether he was eventually able to do so.

Viewers Criticize Colorado Man Over Use of Racist Language

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the Colorado man over the way he spoke to the driver. Some believed that he should have been more respectful when asking someone for help. “I hope he’s still up there,” one person wrote. Another person joked, “Free ladder? Don’t mind if do.”

More people criticized the man, with some even joking that they wished he would be struck by lightning that was occurring during the video. “Nah, having this douche hit by lightning would increase median human intelligence by a couple of points,” one person wrote. Another person said, “I enjoyed this very much.” Someone else added, “Bro looks like a villain with the lightning behind him.”

For many viewers, the encounter was a reminder that asking someone for help can quickly go wrong when respect disappears from the conversation. Whatever sympathy the person may initially have received was largely overshadowed by the racist language and discriminatory remarks that followed.
