While a Virginia woman was driving, she was brake-checked several times by a man in front of her. When she pulled over, the man followed, only to exit his vehicle and aggressively berate her in a fit of road rage.
The driver involved in the near-hit, JJ, posted the video to her personal TikTok account (TikTok/JJ815905). She said she was driving on Winchester Road when another driver brake-checked her. This caused her to nearly hit him several times before finally stopping at a light.
Though an accident was avoided, the driver still suddenly got out of his vehicle in heavy traffic, rushed over to JJ’s window, and screamed at her. “You never learned how to drive your [expletive] car!” he shouts.
When she tells him to keep it up, he starts walking away from her but doesn’t stop screaming in her face. He then turns around and screams, “You stupid [expletive]! That’s reckless driving in the state of Virginia.”
As the man leaves, JJ shouts back that she’ll take her video to the state police. He then screams at her from his vehicle, “You don’t know who you’re [expletive] with,” then enters his vehicle.
Viewers online share their findings on the angry driver’s identity
People in the comment section of JJ’s TikTok video were pretty disgusted by the driver’s behavior; some took it a step further and shared the man’s identity—his name is Travis—and his place of business. When it was discovered he previously worked in law enforcement, a commenter remarked, “Former cop. Makes sense.”
One viewer said they retaliated online, stating, “Just gave him a bad review 😂.” JJ gave the comment a Like and thanked her.
Others pointed out Travis’s hypocrisy over accusing JJ of breaking the law. “In the state of Virginia, this is ‘cursing and abuse,’ which is against the law. He is legally not permitted to talk to you in that manner.”
Travis has since made an official statement on Facebook. He tried to defend his actions, stating the following.
I’m aware of the video being shared regarding the recent incident. What the video shows is my reaction, but it does not show the dangerous driving situation that happened immediately beforehand and led to that reaction.
I was angry, and I could have handled my frustration differently. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But there is more to the situation than the short clip being shared online.
As a local business owner, I care about the reputation I’ve built and the people I serve. I’m not interested in turning this into a social-media fight or attacking anyone involved.
I appreciate the people who know me and understand that a few seconds of a video don’t define an entire person. I’m going to leave it there and move forward.
He received support in the comments from patrons, and no other follow-ups from the incident have been reported since.
