A three-year-old in Indiana woke up and, during his attempt to find his parents, managed to leave his home at around 4 a.m. Shockingly, the front door was locked at the time, but that didn’t stop the toddler, who was caught on camera walking outside.
The scary clip for all of those who have young children was shared online by Britt Moses. She is a mother of three who often shares lifestyle and family content online. The clip attached above quickly became one of her biggest in the last few months, garnering 313,600 views, 23,100 likes, and more than 300 comments.
The Indiana woman, both in the video’s description and caption, detailed what had occurred before the incident. Britt had just moved her three-year-old boy into a “big boy bed,” so understandably, he had more freedom sleeping-wise.
Locked Door Opened
During the night, Britt and her husband fell asleep on the couch. Hours later, at around 4 a.m., their son woke up. Looking for comfort and soothing, the boy walked to his parents’ bedroom only to find it empty. Probably still half-asleep, the boy failed to check the living room and instead decided to look for them in a very unorthodox place.
According to Britt, even though the front door was locked, her boy still managed to open it. Doorbell camera footage shows the toddler exiting the house, walking toward the street and, thankfully, returning home almost instantly.
“Literally gave me a heart attack,” the Indiana woman wrote. She also captioned her clip, “Safe to say, a child lock was ordered immediately because this could’ve ended so differently.”
Reactions
The video sparked multiple responses, mostly from worried parents. One said, “This would be on my mind for months. I’d be sick.” Another one commented, “Omg I’m so glad he came back in and that he is safe!“
Others were a bit harsher, with one viewer writing, “If you don’t have a lock on the upper half of the door, you’re doing parenting wrong.” However, others argued that placing such a lock would only create new problems. One user said, “If they NEED out, they can’t get out because the child lock will be out of reach.”
Hopefully, with some extra safety in place, the boy will no longer find himself in danger.
