A locksmith in Atlanta, Georgia, was called to perform a job at a parking lot. Upon arrival, he came across a couple of men who, according to the craftsman, seemed suspicious, to say the least, and one of them was carrying a weapon. He did the job and left, refusing to ask questions while treasuring his own safety.
The interaction was shared online by The Key GOAT. His account often shares footage of his work as a locksmith, which often features him in less-than-stellar situations such as the aforementioned one. The clip attached above went viral, garnering one million views, 63,700 likes, and more than 250 comments.
The Georgia man arrived at the parking lot, where multiple men were waiting for him and directed him toward the SUV they needed opened. One of them asked about the agreed-upon fee, $80. While the locksmith was on his phone, the stranger told him, “Don’t be scared, bro. It’s nothing like that.”
“Yeah, there’s too much going on, bro,” The Key GOAT said. The man standing outside his window then told him that there was a “funeral” in the area, which didn’t exactly help with the locksmith’s nerves. He added, “Y’all look too happy for a funeral.”
‘Something Wasn’t Right’
After the payment was successful, The Key Goat got to work. The car had no license plates or tags, and he was quick to point that out. Still, he inserted inflatable bags between the SUV’s door and the frame, which allowed him to insert a long-reach tool.
It was at that moment that the Georgia locksmith noticed that one of the men was carrying a weapon on his waist. He asked about it, and the man told him he was licensed. He finally opened the SUV’s door and immediately grabbed his things and left, telling the man to be safe.
In the clip’s description, the locksmith wrote, “‘Don’t be scared’ is never a good start… I knew something wasn’t right.”
Reactions
Viewers seemed to agree, and although there is no proof the men shown in the clip were doing anything wrong or illegal, the vibes were felt through the screen. One said, “Yeah, get the hell out of there. Probably not their car, but that ain’t none of your business.” Another one commented, “Always judge a book by its cover, btw.”
Some questioned the locksmith. One wrote, “How do you know that’s their car? Don’t you prove ownership of the car first?” He answered, “In this case, my safety was more important, and I just needed to get the hell out of there.” Meanwhile, others didn’t think much of the interaction, with one viewer saying, “Very chill interaction if u ask me, but I get the concern.”
It is safe to say The Key GOAT will not be returning to the area anytime soon.
