An elderly woman in Pennsylvania was called a “Karen” online after she was confronted for blocking a delivery robot from completing a food delivery.

A woman passing by began filming the unusual sight, showing the older woman standing directly in front of the delivery robot and looking down at it. “Miss, you can’t block that,” the woman, named Ley, told her. “You aren’t allowed to do that,” she added.

Instead of listening to Ley, the woman continued blocking the robot. “It’s gonna wait me out, and then they are gonna find an alternate food,” she said, referring to the person who had ordered the food. Ley argued that the Karen was preventing someone from receiving food they had already paid for. “I have no regrets,” the woman responded.

“These things are taking people’s job,” she added as she continued blocking the robot. “But also it may be somebody’s food who’s sick. You can’t do that. They may be waiting on it,” Ley argued as she tried to reason with her. The woman responded by accusing Ley of imagining the situation and arguing that her explanation was only a possibility rather than a fact.

As the two continued arguing, the Karen insisted that the delivery robot was taking someone’s job. The video ended with Ley telling her, “You’re a nasty spirit, that’s what you are.” It remains unclear what happened afterward or how long the elderly woman continued blocking the robot.

The controversy also reflected the broader debate over food delivery robots and their impact on workers. Some people oppose the growing use of the technology because they believe robots could eventually replace human delivery workers and reduce job opportunities for people who rely on courier work. Supporters, however, view the robots as a technological advancement that can make deliveries more convenient and efficient.

Viewers Divided After Pennsylvania Karen Blocks Delivery Robot

The video sparked reactions online. Viewers online were divided over the Pennsylvania older woman’s decision to block the food delivery robot. Many criticized her behavior, with one person writing, “Being a Karen to a robot is crazy.” Another person said, “People are so bored and miserable.”

On the other hand, some people defended her and believed that she had a valid point about the impact of automation on jobs. “But I mean she not wrong, robots are taking our jobs. The company could easily hire humans,” one person wrote. Another argued, “Who works on the robot, cleans it, charges it, loads tge [sic] food inside. Programs it. (human). Who cooks the food (human). But your argument is DoorDash loses buisness [sic]…” Someone else added, “you cannot be siding with the robots.”

The incident also raised questions about whether people have the right to block delivery robots from bringing food to customers and whether doing so is justified by concerns over automation. The disagreement between the woman and Ley highlighted how opinions over workplace automation can quickly become divisive, with some viewing the robots as a threat to jobs and others seeing them as a normal part of technological progress.
