New York Subway Rider Eats Seafood Boil With Her Hands as Sauce Drips All Over the Floor: ‘This Is Stinking Up the Whole Train’

There’s a particular kind of horror reserved for public transport food disasters, where the smell of something unpleasant wafts past you long before you can actually see what’s causing the stench. Spilled coffee is one thing. A dropped sandwich, sure, survivable. But thick, buttery, orange liquid oozing across the floor towards someone’s shoes is an ordeal best left to the imagination.

That’s what unfolded on a New York subway car, and the culprit was a full seafood boil.

The video uploaded to X by the user @ImMeme0 shows a woman sitting in a purple subway seat, with an opened package of seafood boil on her lap. She is actually eating the shellfish entirely by hand, pulling pieces apart and bringing them to her mouth as she goes.

Meanwhile, the sauce is dripping down her leg onto her black pants, forming a growing yellow puddle on the train floor near her red-and-black Nike sneakers. The 13-second video has the caption “Eating a seafood boil while dripping down your leg on the NYC train is just nasty.”

Internet Reacts to New York Subway Seafood Boil

The clip quickly drew reactions from commenters who couldn’t get past the smell alone. One commenter wrote, “I know this is stinking up the whole train lol.” Another argued that transit staff should step in, writing, “The subway and the stations should have their own security. She should be told to throw it out or get off the train. In the station she should be told the same. Throw it out or leave the station.”

A third agreed the setting simply didn’t fit the meal, writing, “The train is not the place for a meal that requires a bib and gloves.”

Others weighed in on the food itself and the situation as a whole. One commenter wrote, “A Seafood boil..that sounds disgusting..similar to a Pork pimple.” Another questioned the timing, asking, “Is she that hungry that she can’t wait to get home and sit at a proper table with dishes and cutlery??”

A final commenter was in disbelief, writing, “This has to be a clickbait skit. I refuse to believe anyone actually bought a seafood boil to go so they could eat it on the subway. For starters, seafood boils in NYC aren’t cheap. This just can’t be real.”

Seafood boils are usually covered with garlic, butter, Old Bay, and lemon pepper sauces, making the dish messy, which is why one is supposed to eat it at a table, with a bib and some paper towels nearby to clean up any liquid that might drip.

This dish has become a staple in New York’s Cajun-style seafood shacks, where people are given gloves and plastic bags to protect their clothes from the large amount of liquid that could potentially drip during eating.
