Midway Airport is a busy place at any hour, and baggage claim is usually where everyone just waits for their suitcase. That routine was interrupted in Illinois when police stepped in to deal with a traveler, and video of the moment is now making its way around social media.
The video was posted by @Chicago_Goofies, an account that regularly covers incidents in Chicago. On-screen text puts the time at around 5 a.m., and the carousel, the overhead baggage claim signs, luggage carts, and travelers in the background show it was filmed in the terminal.
At the start of the clip, two male Chicago Police Department officers stand near the carousel. The camera then focuses on a woman with bright pink or red hair, wearing a light-colored hoodie and shorts.
She appears agitated and gestures as she faces one of the officers, and clothes and other personal items are scattered on the floor beside the belt. The woman can be heard repeatedly saying, “Bitch, you have to sleep,” before her shouting escalates.
Several officers eventually move in to restrain the woman, while a female officer arrives and begins gathering the belongings scattered near the baggage carousel. The woman is later seen sitting in a wheeled chair as officers take her away.
Internet Reacts to Illinois Police Taking Woman Away at Midway
The video sparked a wave of reactions in the comments, with some viewers expressing disbelief that the scene unfolded at an airport. One commenter wrote, “Nobody needs that much crazy, especially at the airport.” Another said, “Much of the public space connected with the City of Chicago resembles an open air mental asylum.”
Others were less interested in the location and more focused on the woman’s behavior. One person wrote, “Talking about making a fool of oneself.” Another commenter questioned how the situation had unfolded, saying, “The really crazy thing is that this is past security.”
One viewer, meanwhile, found a way to turn the police response into a joke about airport transportation, writing, “Why pay for an $80 Uber from Midway when CPD will give you a free ride?”
The clip doesn’t establish what led to the outburst, and there is no confirmed information about whether the woman was charged or received medical assistance.
