Virginia actress Sandra Bullock is being criticised online after saying that she is “paranoid” about her children’s safety because of their skin color.

Bullock is the adoptive mother of two children, Louis Bardo Bullock and Laila Bullock, whom she adopted from the United States. Both of her children are black, and Bullock has spoken publicly about raising them and ensuring they grow up connected to their identities and backgrounds. She has also discussed how becoming a mother changed her perspective on family and parenthood.

The actress discussed her children and their skin color during an interview with Hoda Kotb while promoting her new film, Practical Magic 2. She opened up about motherhood and what it means to her to raise black children.

When Kotb asked Bullock about her fears for her children, the actress said she was “uber paranoid” about them. She explained that while her children sometimes tried to reassure her, she would tell them that “it’s not fine outside.” Bullock then connected her concerns to what she believes is happening in America and around the world regarding skin color, saying, “The energy that is floating around our country and our world again. The color of their skin,” she said.

The actress then added, “They’re my babies. They’re my life, but no one knows that when they leave my house.” She explained that she is learning to trust her children more and that she has to stop dwelling on how much their safety worries her. Her comments about her children and their race quickly drew backlash online.

Fans Slam Virginia Actress Sandra Bullock Over Race Statement

Many fans online criticized Virginia actress Sandra Bullock after she said she worries about her children’s safety because they are black. Some viewers believed that she was exaggerating her concerns, while others questioned her decision to adopt black children. “Then why adopt black kids? There are plenty white kids to adopt,” one person wrote. Another person said, “Both these women are part of the Hollywood cult. They are deeply brainwashed and are paid to repeat this low IQ narrative. Ignore these frauds.”

Others had controversial reactions to Bullock’s concerns. One person wrote, “She has way more to fear from other blacks than she does to some ‘crazy white racist!’.” Another person said, “Meanwhile it’s almost ENTIRELY black people threatening peoples safety out there in the real world.” Someone else added, “More lies and propaganda. We will not let them divide us! Stay strong and united!”

Bullock’s comments quickly became a talking point online, with some viewers understanding why she worries about her children while others questioned her outlook. The discussion also showed just how complicated conversations around race and adoption can become, particularly when parents and their children come from different racial backgrounds.
