Outrage erupted online after California ICE agents were accused of “kidnapping” a DoorDash driver and leaving the order he was delivering inside his car.

A video shared online was filmed by a man who was at the scene and witnessed what the ICE agents allegedly did. He stood in front of the abandoned car and accused the agents of “kidnapping” another DoorDash driver, hinting that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred.

Another part of the video showed ICE agents putting someone inside a vehicle. It was claimed that the person was the DoorDash driver mentioned in the video. The footage then returned to the man standing near the driver’s abandoned car, where he filmed the inside and showed a DoorDash order left on the passenger seat.

“A woman by the name of Theresa just ordered, and unfortunately she won’t be receiving her order,” the man said, referring to the claim that the driver was detained before he could deliver the order. He then asked viewers who recognized the vehicle or knew the driver’s family to reach out so he could provide them with resources.

“They are still actively on a daily basis kidnapping our Haitian neighbors in and around the San Diego county. Please stay vigilant. If you see something, say something,” the man said as the video ended. It remains unclear whether the driver’s family learned about what happened to him.

ICE agents can legally detain people at their workplaces or while they are carrying out their jobs. This is when the agency has legal grounds to take them into custody. However, the circumstances and authority involved can vary from case to case.

Videos and reports documenting ICE enforcement operations have shown agents detaining workers while they were on the job. This includes people who were driving, working at businesses, or making deliveries. The practice has drawn criticism from people online. They argue that workers should not have to fear being detained while simply trying to earn a living.

Viewers Outraged After California ICE Agents Detain DoorDash Driver

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed outrage after seeing the California ICE agents allegedly detain the DoorDash driver. Some criticized ICE enforcement operations more broadly. “They are taking college students too now,” one person wrote. Another person said, “Is this hard working individual one of the ‘worst of the worst’?”

More people criticized the agents while calling on others to vote. “Vote people, even the small local elections matter, you need people in every office from the bottom all the way up that oppose [expletive] like this,” one person wrote. Another person said, “I feel like only undocumented criminals (murderers, thieves, etc) should be arrested/deported and the rest should just be pulled over and given a warning with steps to file their immigration paperwork by a certain deadline. This is crazy.”

The video also raised concerns about opposition to ICE agents detaining people while they are working. It further prompted discussion about whether there should be limits on when and where ICE agents can detain people.
