A Texas man received praise online after a video showed him confronting ICE agents during a profanity-filled encounter in which agents repeatedly told him to move away from their vehicles.

The man shared a video online showing himself facing several ICE agents alongside a group of protesters. He began asking an ICE agent sitting inside a vehicle whether he was going to arrest him for impeding. The agent appeared to confirm that the man was impeding them. The man appeared to be standing in front of a vehicle with another agent inside and responded that the agent could put the car in reverse.

Another ICE agent who was watching the scene approached the man and told him to move out of the way. The man then launched into a profanity-filled rant. “Don’t [expletive] touch me [expletive],” he told the agent. He then argued that he was on private property while continuing to use profanity.

More ICE agents appeared in front of the man, who responded by cursing at each of them and giving them the middle finger individually. One agent then warned him that he would be arrested if he put his hands on them. The man simply responded by cursing at the agent as well.

Despite being surrounded by agents, the man refused to move away and continued insulting them. “It can go whatever way you want, [expletive],” he challenged one of the agents. As the man continued arguing with the agents, other protesters at the scene could be heard yelling in the background.

The man then stood in front of a vehicle with an ICE agent inside. “Hey, back up, homeboy. Back the [expletive] up,” he told the agent, who eventually backed up. The man then moved in front of another vehicle and asked the agent inside, “Are you gonna hit me?” At that point, one of the agents rushed toward him and appeared to push him back, allowing the vehicle to move forward.

The rest of the video showed the man repeatedly cursing at the agents. He then stood in front of one of their vehicles again. The agents eventually got him to move away from the car, but he kept arguing until the video ended.

Viewers Praise Texas Man for Standing Up Against ICE Agents

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers praised the Texas man for standing up to the ICE agents despite being outnumbered. “My man was not backing down. That’s what’s up,” one person wrote. Another person said, “When trump leaves office and ice is gone these guys are gonna have to go into hiding for a long time.”

More people praised the man for standing his ground, with one person saying, “Damn bro. You were standing on business! 10 toes down.” Others focused on the racial backgrounds of some of the agents, with another person writing, “It saddens me that black and brown ICE officers are participating in this knowing the history of their ancestors and how they were treated by law enforcement.”

The footage also sparked debate over how far protesters can go when confronting immigration agents. Federal law prohibits forcibly impeding or interfering with certain federal officers performing their duties, but simply criticizing or cursing at an agent does not by itself establish that someone violated that law.
