A Mississippi man who says he once supported the Trump administration has reached his breaking point over the rising cost of living, declaring that he is now “absolutely ashamed” of that support as he questioned whether life in America has gotten any better. The man, who goes by @b.r.a.n.d.o63 online, aired his frustrations in a TikTok video that has since gone viral, racking up more than 700,000 views and 80,000 likes.
His video clearly struck a nerve with plenty of viewers, including Trump voters who say they also regret their support.
Man Says He’s Fed Up With the State of the Country
Much of the man’s anger centered on the amount Americans are paying for everyday necessities, from fuel to groceries. In his video, he pointed toward his truck and called it “nothing but a yard ornament” because, according to him, he now has to pay around $6 a gallon for diesel in order to drive it.
He claimed that struggling Americans are being forced to compare small differences in grocery prices just to make ends meet and alleged that corporate profits continue to skyrocket while “everybody in Washington” lines their pockets.
The man also criticized the country’s involvement in the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran. He complained that Americans at home are being ignored while enormous amounts of attention and resources were being directed overseas.
“I am absolutely ashamed to say that I ever supported this administration. Hundred percent,” the man said. “Where have we made it greater in this country?”
He added that he did not consider himself either a Republican or a Democrat and only cared whether the party in charge could make life more affordable for ordinary people. However, as he sees it, the country is now “caught between a rock and a hard place” that can only be fixed by “Jesus and a hard reset.”
Viewers Said They Share His Frustration
In the comments under the TikTok post, many admitted that they were not happy with the country’s leadership.
“I am so done with our blood suckin government,” one person commented. “It doesn’t matter who you vote for anymore Republic or Democrat their all there to get richer while we all get poorer [sic],” another wrote. A third said, “They try to distract us with Red vs Blue morale but in reality we’re both struggling and need to come together and realize what our government is doing to both of us.”
Someone else claimed, “Both wings are on the same bird. We are nothing but slaves for the machine at this point.” A different netizen chimed in, “Both sides are = evil The only way out is for Jesus to save us.”
Several people who identified themselves as Trump voters also joined the conversation and expressed regret about their previous support. “Your [sic] correct. So ashamed I voted for trump smh,” one admitted. Another shared, “I truly believed all his lies but saw real fast he lied to get the votes.” A third said, “I was so maga… now its shameful.” A fourth added, “Brother I agree I voted for him 3 times but something needs to change ASAP.”
Many more shared similar sentiments, saying they are tired of watching expenses climb and want to know when they will start feeling some relief.
As of September 17, AAA puts the average price of diesel in Mississippi at just over $6 per gallon, compared with about $3.28 a year ago. The national diesel average has climbed even higher, to roughly $6.40. Global supply disruptions stemming from conflicts in the Middle East and attacks on Russian refineries have contributed to the recent surge.
