A doorbell camera video is making the rounds after catching exactly that kind of opportunistic move, allowing one resident to watch as someone else’s hands landed on her package.
The video, posted to TikTok by user @GwendolyneMatos, shows doorbell camera footage of two apartment doors sitting close together. A delivery worker drops off a USPS package at the door on the left, checks her phone briefly, presumably to confirm the delivery, and then walks away.
For several seconds, nothing happens on camera.
Then, a man comes out of the door on the right and checks the package, appearing ready to take it inside. Before he could make his move, the woman from the left door rushes outside and confronts him, shouting that the package belongs to her.
Startled, the man immediately steps back. The woman continues confronting him, with her tone suggesting this may not have been the first time he tried to take something that wasn’t his.
The clip ends with her still questioning him as he stands frozen near his own door, clearly caught off guard.
Because the two doors are so close together, some viewers online suggested the mix-up could have been accidental rather than an intentional theft. From the footage alone, it’s unclear whether the man has taken packages from the address before. Neither person has publicly commented further on the New York incident.
