An Italian bakery in Addison, Texas, was thrilled to sell over 30,000 of its pizza crusts to one of its clients. The bakers, however, have since accused the client, a pizza brand, of failing to pay for the crusts and even making a profit by selling their product, now turned into pizzas, at Walmart.

The accusations came from La Spiga Bakery. Carolyn Milano, who founded the bakery alongside her husband Donato, was the one to deliver the message. It quickly became the establishment’s biggest video on TikTok, garnering 850,000 views, 81,700 likes, and more than 3,200 comments.

The Texas woman greeted her followers while holding a pizza from Medulla’s Pizza. After explaining that she has been in the business for 32 years, she said that she wanted to reach out to her community. Clearly upset, she pushed back on her incoming tears and explained what had occurred.

“This company, Medulla’s, ordered over 30,000 pizza crusts from us over five months ago, and we have yet to see payment,” Carolyn alleged. “They have, in turn, sold them to Walmart and gotten paid. But we have not yet seen anything.”

Update And Response

After raising her allegations against Medulla’s Pizza, which announced in July that their products were to be sold in Texas Walmart stores, Carolyn shared an update. She said that Medulla’s promised to pay for the 30,000 pizza crusts by September 30.

“We do not wish harm on any business. We simply want what is fair,” she added.

Two hours later, however, Medulla’s Pizza shared a statement online. They said they had been a victim of “incomplete and misleading information without the full context.” Without providing much explanation, the brand said that business agreements, confidentiality obligations, and payment arrangements were in place and that they would address the matter eventually.

Reactions

Carolyn’s video prompted a huge response from viewers online, most of them choosing to bash the pizza brand and asking La Spiga Bakery to take action. One said, “Sue them to the ground.” Another one commented, “They’re advertising the dough as a homemade family recipe.”

The backlash continued incessantly. One wrote, “And just like that, Medulla’s ruined their own success.” Another one added, “They need to pay or be boycotted.”

Viewers have promised to come back on October 1 to verify if promises were kept. Hopefully, La Spiga will be made whole.
