A New York priest surprises everyone by blessing the beer taps at a bar reopening in Penn Station. The establishment, Tracks Raw Bar and Grill, is considered a “commuter favorite” and has just returned to its “original location on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Concourse.” This is the reason why many have gathered to celebrate with a pint of Guinness and a toast.
The bar relocated back in 2019 when the concourse was undergoing reconstruction. Reportedly, Tracks was “completely renovated and upgraded.” The video, shared by the LIRR, shows Father Brian Jordan in the center of a crowd. However, nobody expected the friar to bless the beer: “God is great. God is good. God is the neighborhood. From right here in Penn Station. [Will open] for Tracks. God bless [it]!” Everyone cheers and joins the New York priest in a toast.
The priest is clearly having a good time in the video, and bringing joy to those around him. He continues, “You gotta finish the whole glass. Otherwise, you’re not going home.” The crowd proceeds to converse amongst themselves. However, the New York friar can be heard telling people to “take their time” and talking about a tab. The video was uploaded to the abc7chicago TikTok channel and reached nearly 5,000 views within an hour of posting.
New York Priest Catches Attention
Several love the unique blessing, which has sent one person on a mission. They state, “I’m searching for the priest.” And they’re not the only one loving Father Brian. Another gives their seal of approval, stating, “You’re a good guy,” while another commenter leaves hearts.
However, a few take the opportunity to enjoy the humor behind the priest drinking at a bar. One commenter says, “What’s a PPriest?” Another asks, “How many beers has Sir Priest had?” This refers to the seemingly slurred speech heard in the father’s blessing. Meanwhile, one person simply comments, “God bless.”
It is unknown if the New York priest was a previous customer at the bar, but one thing is for sure: everyone now knows his name.
