A Tennessee Spark driver was making a delivery when she experienced something unsettling: she says she was told by a man he needed to enter her home to make his delivery.
When TikTok user Christy_notchrissy refused, Christy claims in her TikTok video the customer was “threatening” to get her fired if she didn’t comply.
Christy documented her thoughts on TikTok just as she was making the delivery. As Spark delivery driver at Walmart, she delivers groceries for people. According to her, it isn’t part of their policy to enter someone’s home, which she tells the customer. He fires back, telling it it would violate the ADA and that he would “have my job.”
After delivering the groceries to the man’s deck, Christy has a chat with him. She tries to explain there are other programs that allow delivery drivers to enter homes, but that’s not part of her job. Even though he says he understands, he still decided to make a complaint against her. He states, “It’s not you that I’m mad at.”
Christy confronts him about this and says, “Well, you looked at me dead in my face and said, ‘you’re going to lose your job if you don’t do that.’” She tells him that how he threatened her job is “so inappropriate.”
The customer does not deny her accusation. Instead, escalates the problem, saying he’ll take her “to court” over this to “settle” things. Christy walks back to her vehicle, clearly baffled by her experience with this customer.
The reaction to Christy’s bad delivery experience
Most of Christy’s viewers were not at all sympathetic of the Spark customer, despite invoking the ADA. Many offered advice, some of whom worked for or still worked with Spark.
For example, one viewer suggest Christy cancel the order and report the customer, because “…now he can leave a bad review for something that’s not your fault.” Luckily, Christy did. She responded, saying, “I reported it in the app.”
Another pointed out the error was on the customer. They argue it wasn’t a “violation of ADA,” but a failure on his part to use the “in home service,” of which “he did not select…” And if that wasn’t enough, one viewer argued Christy could’ve been in danger. “As a woman I would not be ok entering any man’s house period.”
Christy has since shared an update video on TikTok. The delivery transaction has since been completed, stating Spark has “taken care of the situation on their end” in regards to the confrontation. In the comments, she wrote that Spark “removed him” from the Spark service, but admits she “hates it.”
