Tennessee Driver Says Walmart Had His Car Towed While Buying Replacement Tires: ‘Never Trust Walmart With Your Car’

Maybe not the brightest move, on their part

Regardless of whether a Tennessee Walmart’s mistake was accidental or intentional, it still upset a customer, one who was getting his tires replaced, at that. Reddit user AioliOld2 posted to r/Walmartcustomer, explaining how he had parked his car at the store’s tire center to replace a flat. The specific tires wouldn’t come for several days, so he signed paperwork to permit his vehicle to be left in the parking lot. Little did he realize the massive headache this all would become.

“Walmart canceled the order 5 days later, and I went into the store and ordered 4 more,” AioliOld2 wrote. “I was there buying a new set at 6, [my] car was towed at 7.” In other words, on top of troubling OP into ordering tires again after a 5-day wait, Walmart allegedly towed his car while he was there buying tires from Walmart. Thousands of Redditors could hardly believe the absurdity.

“Blast them for their blatant ignorance!” exclaimed a commenter. “Well… your first mistake was going to Walmart for anything automotive related other than DIY stuff,” sighed another user. “Never trust Walmart with your car,” agreed a third.

The Tennessee Driver Claims Even the Tow Truck Company Criticized Walmart’s Actions

Needless to say, AioliOld2 wasn’t just going to let Walmart have his car taken away without his say. “I spent 4 hours in the store irate on the phone with the 800 number, and they were even disgusted with the store’s service,” he recalled. If that wasn’t bad enough, the store manager allegedly refused to fill out a claim for OP. “I called the tow truck service, and he thought they were idiots,” he recalled.

Fortunately, the towing service didn’t charge AioliOld2 for the haul. Still, because of the flat, OP ended up paying to have his tires realigned because the car had been dragged onto the tow truck.

Dozens of others in the comments shared their horror stories about Walmart mismanaging car issues as well. One upvoted commenter conversely came out defending Walmart: “Walmart may be a pain but they will pay. Same reason I let them change the oil. If they screw up they’ll pay for a new engine, way quicker than Jiffy Lube.” Even so, it’ll be hard to see whether AioliOld2 would trust Walmart’s car services again after this completely unnecessary ordeal.
