South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace defended attending a college football game after criticism of her posts about the event. She accused liberals, socialists, leftists and trolls of objecting to women attending games or cheering for their teams. Mace then said she would attend another game and enjoy it despite the criticism. The video drew attention as users disputed the premise behind her response.
Mace said she attended the college football game the previous night and later tweeted about it. She addressed “all the liberals, libtards, socialists, leftists, and trolls” who criticized her. She said those critics “don’t think women should attend football games” or cheer for their teams. The congresswoman then turned to the criticism she said followed her posts.
She said she had “unpacked your lived experiences” and “centered your truth and your feelings.” “Your feelings are valid,” Mace added. She said the criticism would not change her plans to attend another game. “I’m going to attend the next football game and enjoy the hell out of it,” she said.

The response quickly shifted from Mace’s football plans to whether she had accurately described what her critics were saying.
One user accused her of “making up problems that don’t exist. Every girl I know loves going to football games both college and Pro.” Another stated, “There isn’t a single liberal who Thinks that.”
A separate response said, “Nobody said they didn’t want you there. Everyone does at least for the comedy of it.” Another user questioned her priorities: “When our elected members of Congress start becoming more known for their agenda and achievements… maybe some of our problems will get solved.”
Other users defended Mace. “Good for you😊 I’ve heard Gamecock fans say ‘Go Cocks’ forever. Why is it a big deal when you say it?” one response stated.
Another wrote, “What the Hell…Members of Congress are not allowed to have fun ? This is Absurd. Mace did nothing wrong.”
The dispute remains over whether Mace accurately characterized the criticism she received. Her video did not identify specific critics making that argument.
