An Ohio mom faced online backlash after saying she wanted pediatrician offices baby-proofed because her twins don’t sit still during appointments.
The mother shared a short TikTok video of herself with her twins while waiting in a pediatrician’s office. She wrote over the video, “Please consider this my official petition that all pediatrician’s offices be ‘baby proofed’ Sincerely, a tired twin toddler mom.”
Many viewers found the mother’s petition controversial, and the twins’ behavior in the video added to the debate. Their behavior was also the reason she made the plea in the first place.
In the video, the two toddlers were seen trying to touch various items inside the pediatrician’s office. At the beginning, one of them stood on a chair and tried to reach some equipment. In another part of the video, one of the twins was holding papers, although it was unclear whether they belonged to the pediatrician or the mother.
While the twins continued touching things around the office, their mother repeatedly told them, “no,” but they continued. At one point, one of the toddlers tried to climb onto a table. Near the end of the video, one of the children opened the office drawers one by one while the mother continued saying, “no.” The twins then attempted to open a drawer together as their mother tried to keep it closed.
The twins’ behavior prompted her request. She also added in the caption, “Who agrees!?!?! Uncovered outlets, cords, rolling chair, unlocked drawers… I was fighting for my life in there.” While the mother may have intended the video to be harmless, some viewers criticized her for what the footage showed.
Many viewers disagreed with the mother’s request. They argued that it was her responsibility to manage her children. This was rather than wanting the pediatrician’s office to baby-proof the entire space. Some felt that repeatedly telling the twins “no” was not enough, especially since they kept climbing on furniture, opening drawers, and touching items around the office. From this perspective, the children’s behavior was something their parent should have managed while they waited for their appointment rather than something that required changes to the office.

Most viewers left comments criticizing the Ohio mom for wanting pediatrician offices to be baby-proofed. They instead placed the responsibility on her to manage her twins’ behavior. “You are the parent. You can control them. You are in their work environment not your house,” one person wrote.
