A Tennessee man posted on social media about his latest firing. This came after he criticized management for “micromanaging.” To his TikTok audience, he says, “Come get fired with me as a diesel mechanic.”
Posted by TikTok user Itzjustchrizz, he posted about his latest project at work: a diesel truck that doesn’t sound right to him. He immediately starts working on what he discovers is a transmission problem; however, soon after, his manager tells him to “see him in the conference room.”
Chris’s boss and another manager tell him he’s receiving disciplinary action for something he said on the job. According to them, Chris stated a manager “gets off micromanaging like an [expletive].” Chris sits back, listens, and boldly states, “Didn’t lie, though.”
They try to talk over Chris, admonishing him for his behavior. Naturally, Chris defends himself, saying, “It’s 100 degrees outside and you got this guy in my ear.” They try to tell him it doesn’t justify what he said.
At this point, Chris has heard enough. “Alright. That’s cool. You’re not about to sit here and [expletive] try to intimidate me, buddy.” He turns the camera on an HR rep in the room, who he claims is “flexing” his pecs the entire time they were talking to intimidate Chris.
Chris is entirely done with the conversation and states, “This could’ve been an email. They paid this dude to stay in a hotel.” Chris says one last thing to the room, specifically the HR manager: “When you gonna get a real job, [expletive]? Get a job that actually contributes to society.” The HR manager responds with, “Yeah, thanks for that.”
Viewers react with sympathy to Chris’s firing
Surprisingly, commenters on Chris’s TikTok video not only supported him; many argued he made the right move. “Dude I respect the [expletive] outta you for the way you stood up for yourself and how you handled that situation,” a viewer shared.
One commenter jokingly speculated on what the HR rep must have done after hearing Chris disrespect his position. Along with a GIF of a crying baby, they wrote, “The HR rep catching the absolute left hook at the end.”
A few figured Chris was better off without Velocity, the company he worked for. One commenter said it was the “worst” and that their HR department is “damage control,” while another claimed his sister used to work there and that it “sux.”
Many others told Chris to hang in there because ‘techs’ were a necessity; in fact, several commenters advertised they were looking for techs. Despite the unprofessional way Chris was fired, it seems better work has already found him.
