A New York City woman was one of several women looking at an apartment for rent. During the apartment tour, one of the women decided to ask the current tenant a question about an alleged mouse problem. It was then that the realtor butted in, putting an end to the interview.
Caroline (@caarolineke) went to an NYC apartment tour in the hopes of finding her new, perfect apartment. When she arrived, tons of women were waiting to get in and view the apartment building as well. The realtor for the building, as well as the apartment’s current tenant were both there to show everybody around.
Caroline was taking a look at the apartment and recording things she liked. That’s when she heard one of the women ask a question directed at the tenant. The woman asked, “Living in this building, have you seen any problems?” According to several people there, there has been a huge problem with mice being present in that building. Caroline takes in the views of the outside as she hears the realtor step in, putting an end to the questioning. He tells them, “Any questions? Please ask me.”
The realtor, clearly not wanting to be upfront about the mouse issue, says, “I don’t want the tenant to be bothered.” He lectures the women there about it and the woman leaves the room, saying, “Sorry” while laughing. The tenant butts in, “No, you’re fine. I’m the one who lives here.”
At this point, the women are irritated and they want answers. Another woman loudly asks the realtor, “Do you know anything about the mouse problems?” He answers, irritated, “Listen to me.” Caroline’s video cuts off, but she speaks with her audience about what happened next. The realtor claimed that there were no mouse problems in the building, even though others heard differently. She added, “I will not be applying to that apartment.”
The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters, with many sharing opinions about NYC apartment living. The woman in the video asking all the mouse questions actually found Caroline’s video and commented, “I wasn’t trying to fight. I was trying to be a girl’s girl!” Another commenter added, “She’s a real one for this.”
Others, however, wrote off the concerns about mice in NYC apartments. As one commenter mentioned, “All apartments, old and new, all across New York City, have mouse problems!” But as one commenter pointed out: “If he was offended by the mouse question, that means they have a problem.” Commenters continue to share their reactions and opinions on Caroline’s video.
