A California Army vet has been renting his first apartment, but not without issue. The property has actually been condemned for its horrific living conditions. Now, he’s speaking out about why this is wrong and why they need to correct these issues with his home.
Ambrea (@bakomade.brazy) says he’s a full-time student with a full-time job who is renting his first apartment. On top of that, he served in the U.S. military. But now he’s facing one of the worst things he ever dealt with. Ambrea is renting an apartment with plumbing issues, flooding, mouse and insect infestation, and more. The home has been officially condemned by Kern County. Now, he’s speaking with the management company who is renting his home out to him. He knows it’s unacceptable and he wants them to answer to this.
In Ambrea’s video, he walks outside with property managers to show them the condemned sign, which reads, “Occupancy Unsafe: DO NOT ENTER.” The sign shows that nobody is supposed to enter “except for the purpose of making required repairs.” He tells the manager that he’s been “forced to live in an apartment” where mouse feces is present and the ceiling is falling in. His plumbing and electricity is suffering and he says they’re asking for “full rent.” He tells them that the way they’ve been handling this is “unprofessional” and he’s taking action.

The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters who offered support and advice to Ambrea in his delicate situation. One commenter simply stated: “Yeah they slumlords.” Another commenter urged, “Report them to Kern County environmental health and the Public Health Department. And contact the Bakersfield code enforcement!! Sue them if none of those things are fixed!”
